RESEARCH ON THE APPLICATION
OF MODERN EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY IN COLLEGES
AND UNIVERSITIES ON THE EXAMPLE OF CHINA
Abstract. With the continuous improvement and deepening of the level of
educational technology, as the pyramid of China’s school education, higher education
is also affected by it, showing a diversified face. The popularization of modern
educational technology in college teaching can gradually improve the teaching
quality of colleges and universities, change teachers’ and students’ cognition of
teaching, and improve students’ learning enthusiasm and learning ability.
Key words: modern educational technology, teaching application, college.
Introduction. This paper summarizes the application and existing problems of
modern educational technology in colleges and universities in China, in order to find
effective solutions. In order to realize the better application of modern educational
technology in colleges and universities.
Main part. 1. The current situation of the use of modern educational
technology
1.1. The use form of multimedia equipment is single
In Chinese universities, the installation rate of multimedia in classrooms is high,
and the frequency of classroom use is also high. But in the use of text and picture
version of the PPT form, compared with the existing multimedia technology, the
classroom presentation form is very single, not rich.
1.2. The subject teachers are lack of educational technology skills
College teachers mainly focus on the improvement of professional knowledge
and skills, and lack of understanding and learning of educational technology means,
which makes teachers present classroom knowledge through relatively simple and
easy-to-use text version PowerPoint when preparing lessons, and make great changes
to the university classroom, but also fail to enhance students’ interest in learning.
1.3. The common means of educational technology are not attractive to
students
At present, most of the college students are born in 2000. This generation of
students have a wide range of knowledge in their daily life and have a certain
understanding of the new technical means, which makes the general educational
technical means have no freshness for this generation of students in classroom
teaching and become the “traditional classroom” of this generation of students.
2. Problems in the use of modern educational technology
In recently years, with the continuous progress of science and technology,
modern educational technology teaching has become an significant means of
university teaching, its role and advantages are obvious. But on the other hand,
influenced by many factors such as teachers’ mastery level of multimedia technology,
teaching objectives and teaching methods, there are still many problems in the
application of modern educational technology in college teaching [1, p. 75].
2.1. In the classroom teaching, teachers’ teaching changes into “machine
teaching”
Modern educational technology is the modern educational theory and practice
that the computer as the core of educational technology is applied to teaching
activities. [3, p.19]It is just a kind of teaching means, the purpose is to better achieve
the teaching purpose and complete the teaching goal. In college teaching, many
college teachers have turned multimedia into the leading role of the classroom. The
classroom is mainly based on the display of text courseware, sound and picture. The
traditional teaching of “teacher teaching” has become “machine teaching”, ignoring
the guiding position of teachers. In essence, classroom teaching should be a process
of information transformation and transmission with students as the main part,
teachers as the guidance, teaching materials and media as an organic whole. All
factors should be combined to form a dynamic organic system.
2.2. The production of multimedia teaching content is lack of pertinence
Some teachers think that making teaching courseware is a once and for all
thing, the teaching content of each class or even every year remains unchanged,
ignoring the specialty and level of different teaching objects and lacking pertinence.
The teaching goal is not clear, the display of each link of teaching activities is lack of
pertinence, which directly affects the teaching effect.
2.3. Teachers’ use of multimedia equipment is uneven.
The application and exertion of multimedia technology in classroom teaching
and the degree of combination with students mainly depend on the level of teachers’
Multimedia mastery and operation. At present, the mastery of multimedia technology
by college teachers is still in the basic stage, especially the middle-aged and old
teachers are relatively not good at using educational technology, and their courseware
types are relatively single.[4,p.104]Relatively speaking, some young teachers
unilaterally pursue courseware making technology, using a large number of images,
videos, etc. in the courseware, the screen background is more complex, the animation
design is more fancy, the variety is various, the font color is bright, it is dazzling, but
it will distract students’ attention, so that the teaching effect is greatly reduced.
3. Effective strategies to improve the application of modern educational
technology in College Teaching
3.1. From the school, first of all, we should increase the investment in
education and teaching equipment, employ technical personnel with professional
qualifications and quality, and regularly carry out comprehensive maintenance on the
school’s modern education equipment, so as to ensure the normal operation of
teaching equipment. Secondly, we should carry out educational technology exchange
activities between old and middle-aged teachers and young teachers, and invite some
experienced professionals and experts to participate in the discussion. This paper
focuses on the topics or problems of educational technology, with the help of various
forces and authorities of the education sector to solve related problems.
3.2. Teachers should improve their comprehensive quality. As university
teachers, they should not only have professional knowledge, but also have certain
information ability. In education and teaching, teachers should understand the
application of new technology. In the face of new technology and new educational
concept, the role of teachers has not weakened. [1, p.76]. Teachers still play an
important role in the application of modern educational technology in education and
training; Teachers should choose modern educational technology according to their
own professional knowledge and different learning groups, and determine the media
and teaching strategies, methods and models.
3.3. From the perspective of students, communicate with teachers more about
classroom experience, and promote the common development of both sides. As the
main body of the classroom, students are also the biggest experiencer of educational
technology. Students’ mastery of knowledge and classroom performance can reflect
the effect of teachers’ classroom teaching, encourage students in class to participate
in the discussion of teachers’ educational technology, and put forward effective
suggestions [2, p.79]. Starting from the main body of the classroom, we should adopt
more targeted teaching technology, so as to improve students’ satisfaction with the
classroom and their learning enthusiasm.
Conclusion. Through the above research, although the modern educational
technology has been used by many Chinese universities, there are still many
problems in the use of school and teacher level, which need to be solved by all parties
to help achieve the modernization of higher education and teaching.
